The Many Ways That We VA

The Many Ways That We VA

Comcast NBCUniversal has been named one of 25 of the Most Influential Companies for Veteran Hiring by DiversityJournal.com due to continued community efforts, education, and building a culture of inclusion. In addition to hiring over 3,300 veterans since 2012, Comcast NBCUniversal is a veteran-founded company with veteran affairs roots, from the front line to the C-Suite.

Comcast NBCUniversal is committed to attracting and retaining the best diverse talent, including veterans. We plan to hire 10,000+ Veterans by 2017, including reservists and veteran spouses, and our approach is to connect, encourage, and engage talented veterans with NBCUniversal via multiple points within their military career, including future consideration towards building virtual career fairs with deployed service members overseas and on-base initiatives to introduce veteran talent prior to exiting the military. NBCUniversal also has a partnership with the US Chamber and their Hiring Our Heroes initiative, including attending annual career fairs nationwide and NBC News’ Next Steps for Vets. Finally, we offer resources to veterans considering the next step in their career via online resources, including:

Many of our internal employee veteran community members engage in VetNet, one of our Employee Resource Groups, that offers Vet to Vet mentoring programs, professional development workshops, and networking opportunities.

Juan Rivas, Talent Development Manager and 23-year Navy veteran, recollects his experience joining NBCUniversal.

“From the moment I joined the Company, I was sought out by the Veterans Network to see if I wanted to help in any way possible. I have been lucky enough to work with some very influential people such as Kyle Skelly and Sharon Glancz, (the) Network's leaders. They appointed me as the professional development leader and I have been fortunate enough to put together leadership development workshops for not only veterans in our Company, (but) also members of other employee resource groups. It is amazing to me how much effort NBCUniversal and Comcast have put into the veteran community.”
