ENTERTAINMENT ASSOCIATES PROGRAM
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The NBC Universal Entertainment Associate Program is a career development opportunity for those individuals set on a career as a creative executive in programming.
The first formal Entertainment Associate Program Class began in 2000 with subsequent classes in 2002, 2004, 2006 and now in 2008. Successful candidates of the program have been promoted within NBC Universal in roles of increasing responsibility.
ASSIGNMENT AREAS
Entertainment Associates should expect to be assigned to any of NBC Universal's Entertainment Television Program Areas (.NBC Network, Universal Medial Studios, Cable Networks, First Run Syndication, or NBC.com) located in our New York City, Burbank, CA or Universal City, CA facilities.
PROGRAM CONTENT
Entertainment Associates will be on program for up to 2 years and may be assigned to one or more areas.
Professional Development to include:
- Dedicated time to get a high level understanding of the business and make key contacts
- Mentoring Program
- "Buddy" Program
- Formal and Informal Seminars
- Skills Training
ENTERTAINMENT ASSOCIATE RESPONSIBILITIES
Entertainment Associates gain hands on experience in the development and/or management of entertainment programming. Some examples of Entertainment Associate responsibilities are:
- Analyze/develop scripts/concepts
- Provide creative input to writers and producers on review of scripts, concepts, ideas, stories, casting and scheduling of programs
- Attend table readings, run-throughs, tapings, rough cut screenings, notes meetings, and pitches
WHAT WE REQUIRE
- Candidates should possess a bachelor's and/or an advanced degree in an applicable field (e.g. journalism, Television/Film, Media Studies, etc.) or equivalent business experience
- At least 1 year of entertainment industry experience is desirable
- Candidates must have proven leadership abilities and an ability to work successfully in a fast paced, dynamic, high-pressure environment and have an undeniable passion for Television
- Candidates must submit an essay for one of the following questions:
- Why do you want to participate in the NBCU Entertainment Associates Program?
- What skills and abilities do you feel you bring that would make you a successful creative executive?
- Please limit your essay response to one page.
