MIAMI – March 10, 2014 – Telemundo's “Top Chef Estrellas” reached its grand finale last night, when telenovela star David Chocarro was crowned the winner of the culinary competition. After finalist Erika de la Rosa was eliminated, Chocarro and Fernando Arau faced off in a difficult challenge of cooking for judges Lorena García, Jaime Martin del Campo and Ramiro Arvizu, joined by other well-known Latin American chefs.  The panel strictly evaluated the dishes and awarded the title of "Top Chef Estrellas" to the current star of the network’s primetime original production, "En Otra Piel" (10pm/9c).

"I'm happy to have won the competition but above all to be able to help SOS Children’s Villages USA, Inc. (SOS Children’s Villages Honduras), which needs it so much," David Chocarro said after winning the title of "Top Chef Estrellas."

Following the reality show, "Suelta La Sopa Extra," hosted by Pení©lope Menchaca, gathered contestants David Chocarro, Fernando Arau, Erika de la Rosa, Lorena Herrera and Dr. Nancy ílvarez, along with the show's three chef judges, Lorena García, Jaime Martín del Campo and Ramiro Arvizu, and host Aylin Míºjica for the official after show. In addition to awarding David Chocarro with the $70,000 check for his charity, other prizes were awarded including the award for the best Sous Chef, Christian Chí¡vez.

Hosted by well-known telenovela actress Aylin Mujica, "Top Chef Estrellas" featured the famous chef Lorena García, as well as Jaime Martin Del Campo and Ramiro Arvizu, chefs of the award-winning Los Angeles restaurant "La Casita Mexicana."  Throughout the season, viewers had a chance to get to know the celebrities on a more personal and intimate level as they competed for the "Top Chef Estrellas" crown and cash prizes for the charitable organizations of their choice. The celebrity contestants were: Dr. Nancy ílvarez, Fernando Arau, Christian Chí¡vez, David Chocarro, Christian de la Campa, Erika De La Rosa, Lorena Herrera and Cynthia Olavarría. After each episode, Pení©lope Menchaca presented "Suelta La Sopa Extra," a talk show about the latest developments on "Top Chef Estrellas," featuring the show's protagonists and exclusive, never-before-seen material.

"Top Chef Estrellas" was produced by the Emmy Award-winning production house Magical Elves and filmed in New Orleans, in the same kitchen and with the same team as Bravo's version, combining the best of that successful franchise with some variations for the Hispanic market.
