E! News Exclusive: It's Here! The First Official Trailer for E!'s The Royals-Starring Elizabeth Hurley-Does Not Disappoint

Meet your new TV obsession!

We have your first look at the first official trailer for E!’s first scripted series: The Royals, starringElizabeth Hurley. (Got all those “first”s?)

Press play here!

The Royals is a juicy, hour-long drama from One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn that follows a fictional British royal family in modern London. It’s edgy, sexy, extreme and decadent-with catfights and scandals galore-and the casting is spot on. Confession: We spent much of the first time watching the trailer trying to figure out how Elizabeth Hurley suddenly reverse-aged 20 years, while simultaneously Googling “Elizabeth Hurley skin care secrets,” only to learn that the young, saucy and scandalous 20-something version of Hurley is actually Alexandra Park, who plays her daughter on the show.

When E! News recently caught up with Hurley on the show’s London set-yes, this show is shot on location in England and the cinematography is stunning–the actress went on at length about how “enchanting” Alexandra is, and we can certainly see why.

Oh, and you heard Dynasty legend Joan Collins is playing Elizabeth Hurley’s mother?

The Royals doesn’t mirror the actual royal family. It’s a fantasy that pulls back the curtain on everything we aren’t usually able to see when it comes to royalty-all the turmoil that happens behind closed doors. Hurley plays Queen Helena, who “doesn’t bare any resemblance to the real queen,” the actress explains. “It’s fiction, fun and it’s showbiz.”

Helena has the power, beauty and intelligence to get what she wants-and what she wants most is to control the public image of her famous family, which is no small task. The king (Vincent Regan) and queen’s daughter Eleanor (Park), is constant tabloid fodder, who “tries to be on good behavior but is finding it tough,” Park reveals. And Liam (William Moseley), the youngest son, enjoys the perks of being a sought-after eligible bachelor, but falls for an American woman whose morals don’t sit too well with the king and queen.

The Royals premieres in early 2015 on E!, and you can watch this trailer live tonight during E!’s Live from the Red Carpet. Our Emmy coverage begins at 4:30 p.m. ET/1:30 p.m. PT and goes through 12 a.m. ET/9 p.m. PT. Come hang with us.

In the meantime, make sure you follow The Royals on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates!
