Sr. Counsel, Litigation & Compliance

Role PurposeThe Litigation Senior Counsel will be a member of NBCUniversal's in-house Litigation Group, representing the company's broad portfolio of television, film, and theme park businesses from its Miami office. The Litigation Counsel will be responsible for handling disputes, advising internal business clients, litigating cases as counsel-of-record (both independently and under supervision of other in-house litigators) and/or in collaboration with outside counsel, and conducting internal compliance investigations. The Litigation Counsel will work on a wide range of matters, including general commercial disputes, media litigation (including defamation claims and journalist privilege issues), employment litigation, intellectual property claims (both affirmative and defensive), insured matters, internal investigations, third-party subpoenas and other matters. ResponsibilitiesAnalyzing claims and formulating litigation and early case resolution strategyConducting fact investigations in connection with litigation and compliance mattersLegal researchDrafting legal papers, including pleadings, briefs, declarations, discovery demands and responsesHandling or assisting with court proceedings (including federal and state court appearances), arbitrations, mediations, and depositionsAdvising business clients and senior management on strength of claims and defenses, dispute avoidance and resolutionResponding to third-party subpoenasManaging and working collaboratively with outside counsel, as neededManaging and supervising e-discoveryReporting and responding to SVP, Litigation and working closely with colleagues globally including other senior in-house litigators, the compliance team, and lawyers in other practice groups on a broad variety of litigation and risk issues
