Senior Legal Counsel

Location: Melbourne or Sydney JOB DESCRIPTION The Labour & Employment legal team is part of the Corporate Legal department at NBCUniversal and is comprised of the following practice groups: Employment Law, Fair Employment Practises, Global Immigration, Labour Relations, Executive Contracts & Talent Legal AffairsThe Employment Law group advises on the full range of employment legal issues faced by the Group acting as a trusted business partner and corporate adviser.The Fair Employment Practices group serves as a key, central point of contact to address concerns raised by employees, including complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. This role will be responsible for conducting, coordinating, and handling internal investigations of employment-related complaints. This role will also focus on enterprise-wide efforts to support positive employee relations, which will include the development and implementation of training programs, focus groups and other initiatives. This role will provide employment legal and fair employment practises support to all the NBCUniversal businesses in Australia and New Zealand and also advise Universal Studios Group on all its production activity across the APAC region. Key ResponsibilitiesEmployment LegalProvide legal advice and counsel to HR, managers, including key business leaders, and other internal lawyers, both within and outside the US, regarding the full range of labour and employment legal issues in APAC.Advise NBCUniversal and, as appropriate, instruct outside counsel with respect to internal investigations, employment litigation and the employment-related aspects of acquisitions and dispositions of businesses. Build close relationships with HR and Legal in order to foster a partnering approach.Analyze and advise with respect to the impact of legislative changes on our operations.Fair Employment PractisesConduct investigations in to highly-sensitive and/or complex matters relating to allegations of harassment, discrimination, complaints about manager(s), and/or work environment in partnership with the internal Employment Law team and HR Prepare investigative documents and record cases in case management tool Communicate and report out findings to key stakeholdersPartner with internal team to identify trends and make recommendations for training or other proactive measuresLead and collaborate with the broader team on positive employee relations initiativesCreate and implement new policies, procedures, and trainings as relating to respect in the workplace
