NBCUniversal Executive Search Privacy Notice

Last updated: December 6, 2022

Introduction

NBCUniversal’s Global Executive Search team is an in-house leadership advisory and executive search solution primarily based in the US and the UK. We are committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information. This notice summarizes our practices regarding the collection, use and transfer of your personal information, the security measures NBCUniversal employs to protect such data, and your rights in relation to it. Please see our Candidate Privacy Policy at https://www.nbcunicareers.com/candidate-privacy-policy to find out more about the information we collect during our recruitment process. When this notice mentions “NBCUniversal”, “we”, “our” or “us”, it refers to the NBCUniversal company that is responsible for your information, which is NBCUniversal Media, LLC in the US, or NBCUniversal International Ltd in the United Kingdom.

What personal information do we collect?

We may collect the following data: identification and contact information (i.e., name, email address, telephone number), career and education history, compensation information (if you provide it), gender, demographic data (including gender, race and ethnicity, where legally permissible), business contact details and photographs (“your data”). This data may be obtained directly from you, through publicly available sources and/or third parties such as personal referrals, industry resources, or your professional networking profile.

How will we use your personal information?

We may collect and use your data in the course of the recruitment, advisory and research activities that we conduct in furtherance of our company’s business strategy. As strategic business advisors, we establish and build strong relationships with key business executives in order to identify, attract, and recruit exceptional leadership talent for our organization. We conduct market research so we can better understand the industry landscape and perform our role as business advisors. We carry out data analytics and reporting to identify trends, improve our processes and allocate our resources effectively.

We have a legitimate business interest in using your data for these purposes. If you would like us to stop using your data for these purposes, please let us know and we will delete it.

We may also collect and use your data for compliance with our legal requirements.

We do not “sell” or “share” your data with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Who could we share your information with?

  • Comcast Corporation and its subsidiaries:  Only the NBCUniversal Executive Search team can access your data. Otherwise, your data may be shared on a “need to know” basis with people at other NBCUniversal companies, Sky, or Comcast, for the recruitment and/or research purposes mentioned above.
  • Service Providers:  We use technology service providers to help manage our data and processes. For example, we use a technology service provider to host and manage our database, which is hosted in the United States. We do not allow our service providers to use your data for their own purposes. We only permit them to process it for specified purposes and in accordance with our instructions, and they are required to keep it secure and confidential.
  • International Transfer: In the scenarios mentioned above, your data may be transferred outside your country of residence for processing, including to countries whose laws are not regarded as providing an adequate level of protection for personal data under your local legislation. Such transfer and processing are subject to local law and, where required, will be subject to your consent. When making international transfers out of the UK we use standard contractual data protection clauses which have been legally approved.
  • Legal Purposes:  We may share your data if required by law, regulation, or court order; in response to a request for assistance by a law enforcement agency; or to seek legal advice from our external counsel or in connection with litigation.

Regardless of where they are located, our service providers and group companies are required to take appropriate security measures to protect personal information in line with our privacy and data security standards.

How long will you hold my information?

We will hold your data for as long as is necessary to fulfil our legitimate interests, to process any application or employment contract that may arise, or to meet legal requirements, unless a longer retention period is required or allowed under applicable law.

What rights do I have?

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to make certain requests regarding your data. For example, in the UK, Europe and California, you have the legal right to ask us to confirm whether we hold your data, to request a copy of your data, to have incorrect details rectified, and to ask for your data to be deleted. You can also appoint an agent to make these requests.

If you are a California resident, you have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your rights. California law places certain obligations on businesses that “sell” personal information to third parties or “share” personal information with third parties for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not “sell” or “share” your data and have not done so in the twelve months prior to the effective date of this notice.

In certain instances, applicable local laws may allow us legitimately and properly to refuse some of these requests; for instance, to comply with applicable legal obligations, to protect the legitimate rights of third parties or to preserve the confidentiality of management deliberations.

If you would like to exercise any of your data rights, or if you have any questions or concerns about how we have used your data, please contact your usual contact in the NBCUniversal Executive Search team, or send an email to [email protected], or call 800-622-6432. We will respond to your questions within the timeframe required under applicable data protection laws. We also will take reasonable steps to verify your identity (and, if applicable, your agent’s authorization) before responding to a request.

If you are based in the UK, you also have a right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (https://ico.org.uk), but we hope that you will contact us first (by emailing [email protected]) so we can resolve your issues first.

If you wish to stop receiving emails from our Executive Search team, please let your Executive Search contact know by responding to their email.
