As an Assignment Editor, you’ll be the engine behind our daily news operation—tracking developing stories, coordinating crews, and ensuring our coverage is fast, accurate, and impactful. You’ll work closely with reporters, producers, photographers, and newsroom leadership to shape compelling content across all platforms. What You’ll Do: Monitor breaking news and emerging stories across multiple platforms Assign and dispatch field crews with precision and urgency Cultivate a deep network of sources across the Bay Area Conduct beat checks with public safety agencies and local officials Book high-impact guests for live and recorded segments Perform background research and database searches to support storytelling Write and publish content for NBC Bay Area’s digital and social platforms
