Role Purpose: NBCUniversal is seeking a Contracts Specialist to join the legal team that supports all aspects of original unscripted content production and licensing for NBC, Peacock, and Bravo and Universal Television Alternative Studio (UTAS). Working closely with the attorneys and administrative staff, the contracts specialist will provide support and assistance to the group’s legal counsel on a wide range of matters relating to the drafting, negotiation and oversight of production services, license and indemnity agreements, insurance, talent contracts, and production policies.

JOB SUMMARY Assists Contracts Administrators and other legal team members with contract drafts, reviews and all areas of contracting process. This role reports to the Vice President – Contract Management, Clearances & GAM. The Contract Management team works across functions and shepherds deals from the pitch phase all the way through final execution and payment.

Job Description This position is on the Business & Legal Affairs team responsible for providing business and legal support for Universal Products & Experiences (UP&E). Universal Products & Experiences handles the licensing of NBCU film and television properties for merchandising, publishing, video games, digital and interactive uses, and commercial tie-ins/promotions. This role primarily focuses on rights research and analysis as well as supporting different groups within Universal Products & Experiences with drafting legal agreements.

“What would you say you do here?” Draft and negotiate a variety of above-the-line agreements for animated series, specials, specialty features and short-form content, including rights acquisition agreements and agreements for writers, voice actors, producers, and consultants for DreamWorks Animation Television and Universal Kids Digital Studios projects. Serve as day-to-day legal liaison with senior production staff.

Maintain accurate records of commercial activities involving intellectual property rights (IPRs) – including marketing promotions, merchandise sales – to support enforcement actions and litigation. Coordinate requests from the local business teams; provide IP documentation (e.g. trademark certificates, copyright certificates, chain of titles, etc.), and maintain good records. Maintain databases for litigation/case files, trademark portfolios, evidence of use for IP in daily commercial activities, and the portfolio of authorized online stores.
