Project Mechanical Engineer II

Summary The Project Mechanical Engineer II is assigned to project teams to provide technical direction and engineering vendor management on upgrades to existing attractions. Duties include technical leadership and subject matter expertise in a variety of Ride and Show system disciplines, auditing of third party design and engineering, execution of on- and off-site acceptance test procedures, and ownership of project documentation compliance. The Project Mechanical Engineer II is responsible for ensuring all project work conforms with ASTM F24 Committee guidelines and compliant with applicable codes, regulations and standards including: AISC, ASME, ASTM, ANSI, AWS, JIC, NEC, and OSHA, among others. They may also provide guidance and oversight on these standards for the other Ride and Show Programs (RSP) team members. This role has exposure to multiple different ride and show systems spanning multiple decades, each with its unique fun and challenges. This role has a 5-day workweek, with a minimum of 4 days onsite. The role may include night and/or weekend work only when necessary. Responsibilities: Responsible for technical completion of mechanical / structural modifications to complex ride and show systems to improve safety, reliability, operational readiness, diagnostics, and serviceability. Provides technical guidance and vendor management of the design, fabrication, and daily installation, test and adjust, and validation activities in the field for mechanical/structural systems. Supports the Project Manager with developing scope of work documents for engineering projects by investigating and providing the technical criteria and maintenance/operational requirements. Interfaces with vendors, Engineers, Managers, Supervisors and Technicians to resolve problems and design issues to meet project objectives. Performs and checks engineering calculations for design, analysis, testing, and implementation of mechanical and structural systems. Reviews designs and documentation from vendors ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and specifications. Leads design and production reviews ensuring product quality, specification conformance, and schedule accuracy. Oversees and manages mock-ups, prototypes, installations, test and adjustments, and validation of show and ride systems to ensure compliance with contractual specifications. Coordinates assigned engineering activities between vendors, ride supervisors, ride managers and technicians. Updates project status to Project Manager on a regular basis. Presents technical project overviews and detailed engineering issues to various levels of management. Maintains configuration management of mechanical/structural documentation in accordance with Engineering’s guidelines for proper archiving and security. Acts as a mentor for lower-level Project Engineers Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established USH policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
