Project Mechanical Engineer I

The Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of critical Ride/Show systems upgrades on existing attractions, including but not limited to specification, design, procurement, production, installation, and commissioning of ride and show mechanical/structural systems. The Project Engineer provides technical guidance and vendor management on one or more projects at a time, including but not limited to Earthquake Ride/Show Systems, and Transformers Ride/Show Systems, and Revenge of the Mummy Ride/Show Systems. Responsibilities: Responsible for technical completion of mechanical / structural modifications to complex ride and show systems to improve safety, reliability, operational readiness, diagnostics, and serviceability. Provides technical guidance and vendor management of the design, fabrication, and daily installation, test and adjust, and validation activities in the field for mechanical/structural systems. Supports the Project Manager with developing scope of work documents for engineering projects by investigating and providing the technical criteria and maintenance/operational requirements. Interfaces with vendors, Engineers, Managers, Supervisors and Technicians to resolve problems and design issues to meet project objectives. Performs and checks engineering calculations for design, analysis, testing, and implementation of mechanical and structural systems. Reviews designs and documentation from vendors ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and specifications. Leads design and production reviews ensuring product quality, specification conformance, and schedule accuracy. Oversees and manages mock-ups, prototypes, installations, test and adjustments, and validation of show and ride systems to ensure compliance with contractual specifications. Coordinates assigned engineering activities between vendors, ride supervisors, ride managers and technicians. Updates project status to Project Manager on a regular basis. Presents technical project overviews and detailed engineering issues to various levels of management. Maintains configuration management of mechanical/structural documentation in accordance with Engineering’s guidelines for proper archiving and security. Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established USH policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
