Sr Manager Transportation/Back Lot Attractions-Technical Services

The Senior Manager, Transportation Garage/Back Lot Attractions/Water World is responsible for maintenance leadership of the Transportation Department, Back Lot Attractions, and Water World. The Senior Manager oversees technical operations, maintenance, inspections, compliance documentation, and team member performance for Back Lot (Studio Tour Attractions), the Water World Show (including show action equipment, special effects, gas systems, hydraulics, etc.), and the Transportation Department which includes Studio Tour Trams, VIP Trolleys, Water World Stunt vehicles, and a diverse fleet of company vehicles, including pickup trucks, cargo vans, stake beds, and specialized equipment such as forklifts, scissor lifts, aerial lifts, to support daily operations, deliveries, and client service calls. This leader ensures safe operational readiness and system reliability to meet daily operating demands and special event requirements. The role also leads and supports the ongoing conversion of the tram fleet from diesel to electric, including sustainment planning, charging infrastructure readiness, and high-voltage safety practices. Responsibilities & Duties: Manage and standardize the operations and activities of the Transportation Garage and Back Lot Attractions maintenance by allocating and coordinating labor and non-labor resources to ensure maximum efficiency. Ensure daily operational readiness and system reliability for all assigned fleet assets, including trams, trolley/tug units, and all fleet vehicles used across the property. Plan, schedule, and execute preventive, corrective, and inspection activities to required standards; ensure timely response to incidents and effective communication to stakeholders. Provide maintenance leadership for Back Lot/Studio Tour attraction systems and show elements, supporting sequences and sets such as Jaws, Flash Flood, Earthquake—The Big One, King Kong 360 3-D, NOPE (Jupiter’s Claim set), and the War of the Worlds set; support other current and future tour assets as the Studio Tour itinerary changes. Lead fleet electrification efforts for trams by implementing maintenance strategies, technical training, diagnostic processes, and sustainment plans for both diesel and electric fleets; coordinate with partners and vendors on charging infrastructure and continuous improvement. Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, job plans, and inspection documentation that adhere to all federal, state, and local requirements as well as internal USH policies. Develop and execute Annual Operating and Capital Plans for the department; provide cost planning and estimating for internal work; support business cases for sustainment, obsolescence, and conversion initiatives. Drive CMMS (Maximo) utilization and data accuracy, including work order creation, asset assignments, downtime coding, backlog management, and reporting to support decision-making. Provide positive and strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring for managers, assistant manager(s), and technicians; manage scheduling, training & development, and discipline processes as needed. Manage vendors and service providers, including scope development, procurement support, contractor oversight, and performance evaluation; ensure safe work practices and quality deliverables. Partner with Shared Support/Inventory to maintain adequate parts and tools, anticipate long-lead needs, and protect operational demand and schedules. Ensure collective bargaining agreements are upheld and maintain positive union relationships through partnership with HR and Labor Relations. Promote a proactive safety culture; ensure training compliance, EHS inspection participation, near-miss/hazard reporting, and timely closure of safety and compliance findings. Ensure appropriate operational coverage for peak periods and special events; establish staffing plans and maintain leadership availability to support incidents and event readiness (coverage may be delegated, but accountability remains with this role). Perform other duties as assigned.
