We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the VOD Engineering team, responsible for building and evolving large-scale media processing systems. This is a high-impact, hands-on role focused on designing, building, and operating distributed systems that power the ingestion, processing, and delivery of video content at scale. We are looking for someone who is not afraid to take ownership, proactively identify improvements, and build systems that are reliable, performant, and scalable in real-world conditions. What the team does The VOD Engineering team builds E2E video on demand solutions The VOD team is responsible for the automated media pipeline delivering content to NBCU’s streaming platforms including Peacock. Troubleshoots issues arising in the VOD pipeline. Configures encoding of video, audio and subtitles for delivery across various platforms/devices. Research new technologies in the media space and conduct POCs. Collaborates with Operations, player and client teams to drive innovation and improvements in video delivery. Key Responsibilities Design, build, and continuously improve scalable media pipelines for processing, transforming, and delivering large-volume media content. Implement and productionize core algorithms for media analysis, computer vision, or machine learning workloads where they can materially improve the platform. Build distributed systems and services that raise the bar on reliability, performance, observability, and operational scale. Partner across engineering and product to identify problems and opportunities early, then turn them into technical design, milestones, and execution plans. Bring a builder’s mindset to day-to-day engineering, using strong judgment, modern tooling, and pragmatic execution to move systems forward.
