Social Media Editor, Selected
Selected is looking for a strategic, creative and highly collaborative Social Media Editor to lead the brand’s organic social presence and help shape how its shopping journalism reaches audiences beyond traditional articles. This editor will own social programming and audience growth across platforms including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, X, Bluesky and emerging channels. They will develop platform-specific strategies, manage the social editorial calendar, translate Selected’s journalism into compelling social storytelling and use performance insights to continually refine the brand’s approach. The ideal candidate is both an editor and an audience strategist. They understand that a successful story should not look or sound identical on every platform. They know how to preserve editorial authority while making content feel conversational, visual, personality-driven and native to the way audiences actually use social media. This person will also play a central role in building recognizable voices and faces across Selected. They will work with reporters, editors and creators to develop recurring franchises, coach talent, identify on-camera opportunities and help the brand reach younger audiences without sacrificing trust, accuracy or editorial rigor. Responsibilities Develop and lead Selected’s organic social media strategy across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, Threads, X, Bluesky and emerging platforms. Own the day-to-day social editorial calendar, including programming, prioritization, scheduling and publishing. Set a clear editorial voice and platform-specific tone for Selected’s social channels. Translate articles, testing, expert reporting, product recommendations and breaking commerce coverage into engaging social-first content. Develop platform-native content packages rather than simply republishing article headlines and links. Develop recurring social franchises that build familiarity, loyalty and audience habit. Collaborate with editorial leadership, video, visuals, audience development, newsletters and production teams to plan multiplatform coverage. Monitor platform trends, creator behavior, cultural conversations and changes in audience habits. Use social listening to identify audience questions, product interests, pain points and emerging areas of coverage. Translate performance data into clear editorial recommendations and programming changes. Collaborate with commercial, partnerships and consumer teams on social components of appropriate campaigns while protecting editorial standards. Support social execution for newsletters, events, television appearances, streaming segments and other Selected initiatives. Occasionally appear on camera in social videos, explainers, discussions, product coverage or other formats. Take on additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
